“Measures are needed to ensure use of forest products is not guided by unregulated demand, but by what forests can sustainably supply,” this was one of the conclusions of the "Biomass and Resource Efficiency" event attended by more than 70 people at the European Parliament. It was organised by FERN, ClientEarth, the Greens and Grupo PPE.

EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) has previously been known as ‘additional legislation’ or ‘due diligence legislation’ and acts as a ban on placing illegal timber on the EU market.

“European and Global Forests – which way to the future,” was a conference hosted by MEP Gaston Franco with the European Parliament intergroup on ‘Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development’ and the FUTUREforest project. It featured more than 35 speakers in two days (but only three women). The 200+ participants demonstrated the great variation of EU forest-related initiatives.
