Footprints in the forest
Current practice and future challenges in forest certification

Evidence of widespread destructive logging of old-growth forests around the world has caused many consumers to be concerned about the trail of devastation left behind. Certification is a mechanism that aims to assure consumers that the products they buy come from well-managed forests. Our latest in-depth report on the eight biggest forest certification schemes globally builds on our earlier report Behind the Logo (PDF 2MB). This latest report analyses the strengths and weaknesses of each scheme and aims to provide companies, governments and NGOs with the facts needed for informed decision making.
