FERN presentation to "European and Global Forests – which way to the future"

“European and Global Forests – which way to the future,” was a conference hosted by MEP Gaston Franco with the European Parliament intergroup on ‘Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development’ and the FUTUREforest project. It featured more than 35 speakers in two days (but only three women). The 200+ participants demonstrated the great variation of EU forest-related initiatives. Significantly, the former DG AGRI Commissioner Franz Fischler criticised the EU biofuels target and asked for it to be reconsidered, a demand echoed in this presentation concerning FLEGT and REDD.
