Civil society letter on the EU Protein Plan to the Austrian Presidency

On October 18, European NGOs and networks, including Fern, sent an open letter to the Permanent Representation of Austria, on the occasion of the Austrian presidency, to make recommendations on the EU's upcoming protein plan. They include:

• Reducing EU production and consumption of animal products
• Adopting an Action Plan to halt deforestation and forest degradation
• Promoting pulses for human nutrition and their environmental benefits
• Investing in research into diverse protein crop development
