FLEGT Action plan evaluation ongoing

An evaluation of the 2003 Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) action plan is ongoing, with a view to its possible revision. A website including an online survey has been set up to offer all stakeholders the possibility to participate in the review process. The FLEGT Action Plan review team selected 10 countries for field visits, planned to take place between April and July.

They have already visited Ghana and Cameroon, and CSOs in both countries submitted position papers highlighting that VPA processes have opened up space for putting forward civil society demands regarding forest governance, and have empowered CSOs and communities to participate in processes and assert their rights.
