Degrading ecosystems to prevent climate change. Can Czech forests and soils survive the dash for biomass?
19 October 2012
This report looks at solid and gaseous biomass use in the Czech Republic to see whether existing legal and regulatory frameworks are sufficient to guarantee sustainable biomass production. It concludes that to achieve responsible and sustainable biomass production, a combination of EU policies covering water, biodiversity, soil protection, and adaptation to climate change must be put in place. It proposes the replanting of floodplain and other forests.
