Isaac Tchikaya is not longer with us but has sowed hope for Congos forests
15 March 2018
Fern is deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the death of our dear friend and colleague Isaac Tchikaya, focal point for the CSO platform for sustainable management of forests (PGDF) in the Kouilou region, in the Republic of Congo. Isaac was a tireless defender of forest protection, community rights and wildlife in his country. In 2014, Isaac made a vibrant plea for threatened Congolese forests in a Fern produced film “A chance for change in the Congolese forests” www.fern.org/news-resources/a-chance-for-change-in-the-congolese-forests-563/. Fern joins colleagues and civil society advocates from across the Congo Basin in expressing its sincere condolences. Isaac will be sorely missed.
